Curl Care

Your UJAI curls are made to be worn, loved, and enjoyed again and again.

With proper care and maintenance, your hair can last up to 2–3 years. Like your natural curls, curly extensions require consistent moisture, gentle handling, and the right routine to maintain their softness, definition, and overall quality.

How long your hair lasts will depend on how often it is worn, how it is installed, the products used, heat and chemical processing, and how well it is maintained over time.

WASH DAY

For the best results, wash your weekly - biweekly to remove product buildup and refresh your curls.

Before washing, gently detangle the hair from ends to roots using your fingers or a wide-tooth comb.

Wash using lukewarm water and a gentle, moisturizing, sulphate free shampoo. Avoid aggressively rubbing, bunching, or twisting the hair, as this can cause unnecessary tangling.

Follow with a moisturizing, sulphate free conditioner, working it throughout the lengths and ends of the hair.

For extra moisture, deep condition as needed.

DETANGLING

Curly hair should always be handled gently.

For easiest detangling, work in sections while the hair is damp and conditioned. Start at the ends and slowly work your way toward the roots using your fingers or a wide-tooth comb.

Avoid detangling the hair while it is dry, as this can disturb the curl pattern and also cause unnecessary breakage.

Some shedding is normal with human hair extensions, especially during washing and detangling.

KEEP YOUR CURLS MOISTURIZED

Moisture is key to keeping your curls soft and defined.

Between wash days, lightly refresh the hair with water as needed. Follow with a lightweight leave-in conditioner or curl product to restore moisture and definition.

Avoid applying excessive amounts of heavy oils, butters, or styling products, as buildup can weigh down the curls and affect their movement.

Less is more.

DEFINING YOUR CURLS

For the best definition, style the hair while damp.

Apply your preferred lightweight leave-in or curl-defining product and gently rake or smooth it through the hair. Scrunch the curls upward to encourage definition.

Allow the hair to air dry whenever possible.

Once dry, avoid constantly touching or separating the curls to help minimize frizz.

SLEEPING WITH YOUR HAIR

Never go to sleep with your extensions wet.

Before bed, make sure the hair is completely dry and loosely braid or twist it into sections to help prevent tangling.

Protect your hair overnight with a satin or silk bonnet, scarf, or pillowcase to reduce friction and help preserve the curls.

HEAT STYLING

UJAI hair is 100% virgin human hair and can be heat styled.

Always use a heat protectant before applying heat and keep heat use to a minimum when possible. Frequent or excessive heat can cause dryness and may gradually alter the original curl pattern.

If maintaining your curls for as long as possible is your priority, we recommend limiting heat styling.

SWIMMING & VACATIONS

Before swimming, thoroughly wet your extensions with clean water and apply a small amount of conditioner or leave-in conditioner.

Avoid leaving the hair loose while swimming. Wearing it in braids or another secure protective style can help reduce tangling.

After swimming in chlorine or salt water, rinse and cleanse the hair as soon as possible and follow with conditioner to restore moisture.

WHEN YOU'RE NOT WEARING YOUR HAIR

If your extensions are removed between installs, make sure they are completely clean and dry before storing them.

Gently detangle the hair, loosely braid or twist it, and store it in a clean, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight.

Proper storage between wears can make a major difference in the longevity of your extensions.
